New Superdawg Doing Well In Wheeling
Posted on March 23, 2010 with 1 Comment
That’s right folks, the new Superdawg location in Wheeling, IL has now been in business since January and they are packing them in.
The January opening was definitely a long awaited day for this blogger since local news reports had announced the grand opening was actually to occur back in November 2009. But since opening, Superdawg has been well received in the Wheeling community and surrounding area.

Money saving tips when dining out
Posted on September 21, 2009 with 2 Comments
In today’s economy, dining out is something that everyone is having to re-evaluate in their budget. I know my family I have had to do this. But we still look for creative ways to have a night out and enjoy some of our favorite restaurants.
Here are some of the things that we do to either save money or stretch our dining dollar.
Coupons
Of course, coupons have been around forever but people often forget just how much of a money saver they can be especially now when money is tight.
So one of the best places to look is in your local publications like coupon flyers or mailers. Even the local paper will have some good coupons. Or just stop by the restaurant and pickup a carry out menu. Many times they will have coupons that you can cut out and use on the next visit.

Can’t Get Enough Bacon
Posted on August 16, 2009 with 1 Comment
If you love bacon as much as I do then you’ll want to visit bacn.com. This site was created by and for bacon lovers everywhere. You’ll find all sorts of great stuff like ‘bacon of the month’, videos of different bacon techniques, bacon related merchandise (I’m deciding which bacon t-shirt I like best), and, or course, bacon recipes.
This is a fun site to celebrate one of the world’s tastest meats. Our hats go off to the creators of the site and will continue to enjoy returning to learn more about how bacon can be used. I even started following them on Twitter.
Hackney’s in Glenview (Lake Ave)
Posted on August 16, 2009 with 2 Comments
The family and I went to Hackney’s for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It was about 15 years since I had last visited Hackney’s and had fond memories of getting carry out with my dad. The highlight back then was the french fried onion “brick”. They take thinly sliced onions and deep fry them and combine them together to form this wonderfully huge mas of fried onions that resemble a brick.

Superdawg coming to Wheeling
Posted on August 16, 2009 with 2 Comments
If you live in Chicago then you have to be a lover of Chicago hot dogs and just hot dogs in general. One of the most well known and oldest hot dog places in Chicago is Superdawg. They have some of the best varieties of hot dogs and sides in the entire country. They have even been featured on the Food Network.
Well, now my fellow suburban-ites we are being blessed with the famous hot dog’s of Superdawg right here in the northwest suburbs. Superdawg owners, the Bermans, have started construction on a new location in Wheeling. They started construction mid 2008 with an expected opening date in February 2009. Unfortunately, due to weather issues and other delays, we have to wait a few more months to enjoy this Chicago favorite as they were unable to meet that deadline. Current estimates is that we can expect to enjoy these tasty hot gods in November 2009 but with so many delays already, it’s best not to hold your breath.
I will say one thing, it is certainly worth the wait. I hope to visit Superdawg’s in wheeling as soon as they open and share with my fellow ‘dog lovers out there how they stack up. Stay tuned.

The Search for the Hottest Buffalo Wings
Posted on July 28, 2009 with No Comments
For as long as I can remember, I have loved buffalo wings. I love feeling the burn on my lips from the chili peppers in the sauce and the tanginess from the subtle flavors. Even now just writing about them makes my mouth water.
I have tried wings from a lot of different places but most of them have been from franchises and restaurant chains that don’t do justice to the buffalo wing. But I have found a few gems that have really impressed me and made me sweat. But the search for the hottest buffalo wings in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago has been quite a challenge.
I have heard there is a place downtown by McCormick place that actually makes you sign a waiver before you try their hottest wings (this is on my list of places to visit). But try finding a place out here in the suburbs. You would have an easier time trying to avoid finding a shopping mall (and believe me..that’s not easy either).
But the search will continue to find the hottest buffalo wings in the suburbs. What I would really love to find are wings so hot that they actually make me cry.

Jerseys Pizza & Grill

First impression is very good. Jerseys is a sports bar and that’s the feel you get when you walk through the doors. The staff are very friendly and easy going. They you make you feel like you have been friends forever.
I was very pleased to see that they have a very extensive menu. And while they had typical bar food, it was a pleasure to see other not so common itemsJust like many sports bars in America, Jerseys puts out their own version of buffalo wings. The the nice thing about their wings is that customers are able to have them with 8 different types of sauce to cater to every taste and heat threshhold. We give their hottest wings (the firestarter) a definite A+ for heat and flavor. These by far have been the hottest wings this editor has tried in the suburbs. But in all fairness and taking nothing away from Jerseys wings (they are very hot), it is still the suburbs. I have
THE GOOD:
- large menu of awesome tasting food
